Norse animals

They come from the sparse tundra of Northern Canada – in Krefeld, the powerful muskoxes live in the sheltering shadow of trees far from the entrance. Protected by their thick winter coat, which comes off in shreds in spring, the muskoxes live in an outdoor enclosure year-round in Krefeld.

Thinhorn sheep, the animals with the heaviest horns, are a rare sight in zoos. The elegant snowy owls live in direct proximity of the muskoxes and thinhorn sheep. Visitors can regularly watch them raise chicks in the Northern aviary.
